Mandate

The Vice-Rectorate of Finance and Infrastructure supports the mission of the Université de Montréal by ensuring the effective allocation of its financial, technological and facilities resources. It ensures the institution’s financial integrity.

The Vice-Rectorate and its teams plan, oversee and execute major projects that enable the university community to carry out its research and teaching activities. The Vice-Rectorate is responsible for ensuring a healthy, safe environment on campus. It also promotes values of sustainable development and introduces concrete measures in executing the Sustainable Development Policy.

 

 

Biography

 

Éric Filteau is the Université de Montréal’s Vice-Rector of Finance and Infrastructure. He uses his expertise to support and advise the Rector and also supports members of the management team in their mandates.

He sets directions and follows up on strategic aspects of administrative services under his purview, particularly the finance, facilities management, information technology and budget departments. He chairs the Budget Committee, the Information Technology and Communications Committee and the Crisis Management Committee. He is also chair of the board of directors of the Centre hospitalier universitaire vétérinaire.

He represents the Université de Montréal on a number of the Board’s committees, strategic orientation and major projects groups, internal and governmental bodies and external organizations.

A seasoned manager and actuary by trade, Mr. Filteau has worked for the Université de Montréal since 1998. He has held the positions of Director of the Pension Plan Division from 1998 to 2003, Assistant Executive Vice-President from 2003 to 2006 and Assistant Vice-Rector, Administration from 2006 to 2010.

Before joining Université de Montréal, Éric Filteau worked in the private sector, including for Domtar and Morneau Sobeco. He is a graduate of the Université Laval in actuarial sciences. He holds the title of Associate of the Society of Actuaries and an MBA from McGill University. He chairs the pension committee of the Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire (office of interuniversity cooperation) and sits as an independent member on the pension committees of a number of companies.
